Keep 'Em Flying

I just love the idea of taking hens, which are anything but heroic, and illustrating them so. War-era posters that advertised war bonds inspired me. They might illustrate a line of B-25 bombers with the line, “keep ‘em flying.” The American vernacular, the call to arms, the urgency—exactly what I wanted for my modern campaign. Today, our heroes are the common, the simple and can be right in our own backyard. For me, the backyard hen represents a hands-on, empowered approach to food and education.
